Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has delivered a long-awaited infrastructure milestone by commissioning the 22-kilometre Pambeguwa-Kahutu-Kauru road, providing relief to communities that have awaited a reliable road for nearly 50 years. The project includes a span bridge connecting Kubau and Kauru Local Government Areas (LGAs).
At the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, the governor highlighted the stark improvement in travel time. He recalled that during the flag-off of the project on 27th August 2024, the journey from Pambeguwa to Kauru took about an hour, but with the completed road, the same trip now takes under 12 minutes.
Governor Sani noted that Kauru was among 12 LGAs that had not seen any road development in the past 12 years. “Previous administrations recognised the importance of this route and made efforts, but for various reasons, the project remained incomplete,” he said.
“When we broke ground in August 2024, we committed to delivering for these communities. Today, we return not with excuses, but with a completed project that speaks for itself. Promises made to the people must be promises kept,” the governor added.
The governor also promised to construct township roads within Kauru and address the town’s nearly 20-year electricity blackout. Since assuming office, he said, his administration has embarked on an ambitious infrastructure renewal program, initiating the construction of 140 roads spanning over 1,335 kilometres across Kaduna State’s three senatorial zones.
“These projects are guided by data, equity, and a firm resolve to correct years of imbalance in access and opportunity. Many roads are completed, while others are steadily progressing, reflecting our commitment to continuity and delivery,” he explained.
Governor Sani highlighted the benefits of the new road, stating that it provides a reliable alternative route that will reduce congestion, shorten travel times, lower transport costs, and improve the movement of goods and people. He emphasized that emergency services, students, farmers, and traders will all benefit from enhanced access to essential services and markets.
The road was deliberately routed through agriculturally productive communities to facilitate easier transport of farm produce to aggregation centers, processing facilities, and consumption hubs. “In doing so, we are enhancing the competitiveness of our farmers and improving value addition along the agricultural chain,” the governor disclosed.
