The Nigeria Police Force in Delta State has arrested more than 270 suspects during coordinated raids targeting drug hubs and criminal hideouts in Warri and Ughelli.
Police authorities say the intelligence-led operations form part of an ongoing effort to dismantle crime networks and curb illicit drug activities across the state.
Warri Raids Net 59 Suspects
On March 25, operatives led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stormed identified hotspots in Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe local government areas.
The team acted on intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department and targeted locations in Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities.
During the raid, officers arrested 59 suspects—51 men and eight women—from criminal hideouts, including a bush bar linked to illicit activities.
Police also discovered that several hotels in the area operated as brothels and safe havens for suspected criminals. Some individuals on the police watchlist were among those arrested.
Recovered items include substances suspected to be codeine, crack cocaine, “loud,” “colos,” and Indian hemp.
Ughelli Operation Adds 213 Arrests
A day later, on March 26, the police launched another operation in Ughelli town.
Tactical units, including the Crack Squad and Rapid Response Squad, raided locations known for drug-related activities. These included Epini Hotel, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway.
The operation led to the arrest of 213 suspects.
Officers again uncovered large quantities of suspected drugs, including Canadian loud, tramadol, CSC syrup, swinol, and Indian hemp. Authorities said many of the raided hotels doubled as brothels and criminal hideouts.
Investigation and Prosecution Underway
Police have transferred the suspects and seized items to relevant divisions for investigation and profiling. Authorities say they will prosecute anyone found guilty.
The Delta State Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations across the state, including Sapele and surrounding areas.
Police Call for Public Support
The Command urged residents to support security efforts by sharing timely and credible information.
