The Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has ordered all squatters living in forest areas across the council to vacate immediately as part of intensified efforts to combat banditry and insecurity.

The directive, issued on Wednesday, affects several forests within the local government, including Babanla, Oro-Ago, Babasango, Igbo Elefan, as well as areas around the Ekiti and Edu boundaries.

The chairman of the council, Haji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, announced the order in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulquadri Jimba.

According to the statement, the directive is part of ongoing security operations aimed at addressing criminal activities in the affected forest communities.

Jimba quoted the council chairman as warning that all individuals currently occupying the forests must leave immediately or face security consequences.

“Those in the bush are to vacate immediately, and failure to do so will attract security consequences,” the chairman said.

The order forms part of broader efforts by local authorities to support security agencies in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities across forested areas in the state.
