The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for Nigeria’s January 16, 2027 election.
The list includes five presidential candidates aged between 35 and 48, reflecting the range of generations represented in the upcoming contest.
1. Moses Olusoji Adebisi — 35, DLA
Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA) is the youngest presidential candidate on INEC’s published list.
INEC records his qualifications as the First School Leaving Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate and Bachelor of Science.
He will contest alongside 35-year-old Nafisat Usaku Abubakar.
2. Sunday Chibuzo Okereke — 43, Labour Party
Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, 43, is the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.
His listed qualifications include a Bachelor of Science, Master of Library Science with distinction, Master of Science with distinction and a PhD.
Hajja Bintu Konto is listed as his running mate.
3. Nkem Esther Okereke — 43, NRM
Nkem Esther Okereke, also 43, is the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).
INEC lists her qualifications as the First School Leaving Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate, Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and PhD.
She will contest alongside 35-year-old Sulaiman Nasir Muhammed.
Okereke is one of two women on INEC’s final presidential candidate list.
4. Abbas-Bin Aliyu — 44, ADP
Abbas-Bin Aliyu, 44, is the presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
His listed qualifications include the First School Leaving Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate and Bachelor of Science.
Ike Chinazam is his running mate.
5. Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori — 48, NDP
Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori, 48, is the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP).
INEC lists her qualifications as the First School Leaving Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy.
She will contest alongside Chukwuemeka Uchenna Anthony.
Okwori is the second female presidential candidate on the final list.
Wider Age Range
INEC’s list shows that presidential candidates are aged between 35 and 79.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, 79, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 74, are the oldest candidates listed. Peter Obi is listed at 65, while Donald Duke is 64.
The election will feature candidates from 18 political parties, including 16 men and two women.
Beyond age, voters will assess the candidates based on their policy proposals, experience, political records and campaign commitments.
