The iconic actress who debuted alongside Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront passed away peacefully at her Los Angeles home, marking the end of a legendary era.

Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint has passed away at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 102.

Her representative confirmed that the legendary performer died of natural causes surrounded by her family on Tuesday.

Prior to her passing, Saint held the distinction of being the oldest living Academy Award winner in history.

She rose to global stardom after winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her debut film role.

That star-making performance came in the acclaimed 1954 classic drama On the Waterfront, where she starred opposite Marlon Brando.

She went on to deliver another unforgettable performance as mysterious spy Eve Kendall in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.

Her prolific career spanned nearly eight decades across film, live television broadcasts, and major theatrical stage productions nationwide.

She worked alongside classic Hollywood royalty, including legendary leading actors Cary Grant, Paul Newman, and Montgomery Clift.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1924, Saint began her acting career in radio and live television dramas.

Throughout her career, she maintained remarkable artistic versatility, moving easily between intense dramatic roles and romantic comedies.

She earned an Emmy Award in 1990 for her commanding performance in the television miniseries People Like Us.

Later generations recognized her work as Martha Kent in the 2006 superhero film Superman Returns alongside Brandon Routh.

Saint was married to producer Jeffrey Hayden for sixty-five years until his passing in 2016.

Film historians celebrate Saint as one of the last remaining links to Hollywood’s celebrated post-war Golden Age era.

Her passings marks a moment of reflection for cinema enthusiasts honoring performers who shaped modern film history.

Tributes continue to pour in from international film academies, co-stars, and generations of fans celebrating her legacy.
