Lagos State House of Assembly member Desmond Elliot has apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, following a disagreement over the recent APC primary election in Lagos.
Elliot was seen in a video circulating on social media kneeling before Gbajabiamila while appealing for forgiveness and seeking to return to the APC political structure in Lagos.
“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry,” Elliot said during the apology.
The development followed a dispute between Elliot and the APC leadership over the party’s May primary to select its candidate for Surulere Constituency I.
Elliot had withdrawn from the primary, alleging intimidation and political pressure against his supporters.
He subsequently rejected the outcome and indicated that he would challenge the process through the party’s internal appeal mechanism.
However, Elliot later lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was widely reported to have the backing of Gbajabiamila.
Odunuga-Bakare reportedly secured 11,385 votes, while Elliot polled 270 votes in the primary.
The latest apology appears to signal an attempt by the former actor to repair his relationship with the party leadership.
Elliot’s move also comes as the APC continues to manage internal disagreements surrounding its political structure and candidate selection process in Lagos.
His appeal to Gbajabiamila could mark a fresh attempt to mend political fences and regain acceptance within the Lagos APC structure.
