The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered an alleged fake government agency operating under the name National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.
According to the anti-corruption agency, the organisation does not have legitimate government status despite operating from office space within the premises of a government office.
The ICPC said the office was illegally allocated space within the government complex.
ICPC Raises Alarm Over Unauthorised Office
The commission has described the discovery as another case involving an entity allegedly presenting itself as a government agency without proper authorisation.
The development has raised questions about how the organisation obtained access to government premises and the circumstances surrounding the allocation of the office space.
However, the ICPC has not yet released further details about the individuals behind the organisation or the extent of its activities.
Investigation Expected to Shed More Light
The anti-graft agency’s discovery comes as authorities continue efforts to identify and prevent fraudulent organisations from operating under the identity of legitimate government institutions.
Further details are expected as the ICPC continues its investigation into the alleged fake agency.
The commission has yet to disclose whether anyone has been arrested or whether charges will follow from the discovery.
Afri-Global News will provide updates as more information becomes available.
