Popular Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has died after a prolonged illness.

Her death was announced on Thursday by Nollywood director Tobi Oladele, also known as Tee Mony, in a statement shared on Instagram. According to him, the actress passed away overnight after battling health challenges for some time.

Oladele has expressed appreciation to fans, colleagues and supporters across the world who offered prayers, financial assistance and words of encouragement during her treatment.

He also urged members of the public to stop sending donations to accounts that had earlier been circulated, noting that further financial contributions were no longer required.

Ajara’s elder brother, Ridwan Lasisi, confirmed the development in a video message.

He thanked Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry for their support and appealed to well-wishers to respect the family’s privacy during the mourning period.

Her death comes weeks after several Nollywood personalities appealed for financial assistance as her health reportedly deteriorated despite ongoing treatment.

During that period, industry colleagues and fans rallied around the actress, contributing funds and showing public support in a bid to aid her recovery.
