A former deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Joshua Maciver, has formally quit the party.

Maciver confirmed his decision in a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026. He addressed the letter to the APC chairman in Olodiama 2, Ward 04, Constituency 4, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

What He Said

In the letter, Maciver announced his immediate withdrawal from the party.

“I hereby resign and withdraw my membership from the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.

He added that his decision was based on personal reasons but did not provide further details.

Political Background

Maciver served as the APC’s deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Bayelsa State. His exit marks a notable development within the party’s local structure in the Niger Delta region.

What It Means

Although he gave no specific reason, political observers say such resignations can signal internal shifts or strategic realignments ahead of future elections.

His departure may also influence grassroots dynamics within Southern Ijaw and the broader Bayelsa political landscape.
