Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Galatasaray over a possible move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian forward has emerged as a potential target in discussions between the two clubs.
Reports from Britain and Europe suggest that the talks also involve Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli and young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.
According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Galatasaray officials held discussions with Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.
Arsenal Explore Osimhen Transfer
Football correspondent Matt Law of The Telegraph reports that Galatasaray have submitted a £38.4 million offer for Martinelli.
The Turkish club also remain interested in Nwaneri. The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille.
However, it remains unclear how Osimhen entered the discussions.
Arsenal may have used the talks to ask about the striker. Alternatively, Galatasaray could have raised the possibility of his departure.
Arsenal Renew Interest in Osimhen
Osimhen has attracted strong Premier League interest in recent years.
Chelsea held advanced talks with Napoli over a possible transfer two years ago. However, the deal failed to materialise.
The striker then joined Galatasaray on loan. He later completed a permanent move to the Turkish club in a deal reportedly worth about €75 million.
Since arriving in Turkey, Osimhen has continued to impress.
The Nigeria international has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances for Galatasaray. He has also helped the club win consecutive Turkish Super Lig titles.
His latest league campaign was particularly productive. Osimhen scored 22 goals and provided six assists in 33 appearances.
Alvarez Pursuit Could Open Door for Osimhen
Arsenal have admired Osimhen for some time. However, the London club previously identified Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as its preferred striker target.
That pursuit has now become more difficult.
Atletico are reportedly demanding more than £100 million for Alvarez. The Spanish club have also rejected a Barcelona offer worth about £86 million.
As a result, Arsenal could turn their attention to other striking options.
Osimhen could therefore return to serious consideration if the Gunners decide to strengthen their attack.
Galatasaray Reject Reported €130m Offer
Meanwhile, Galatasaray appear reluctant to sell Osimhen.
German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal recently made a verbal offer of €130 million through an intermediary.
According to Plettenberg, Galatasaray rejected the approach. The Turkish club also have no immediate plans to negotiate over Osimhen.
Plettenberg said on X that Galatasaray received the €130 million proposal but refused to enter talks.
Conflicting Reports Over Osimhen’s Future
The latest developments have added uncertainty to Osimhen’s future.
Recent reports have offered different accounts of Galatasaray’s position.
One report claimed that the Turkish club had reduced its asking price to about €65 million. That move reportedly came amid interest from Al Hilal.
Another report, however, said Galatasaray rejected an offer worth more than €130 million and remain unwilling to sell the striker.
For now, Osimhen remains one of the biggest names in the transfer market.
Arsenal could become a serious destination if the Premier League club decides to make a formal move. However, the situation remains fluid, and further negotiations could determine the striker’s next destination.
