The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to November 30, 2026.

The Board said the extension gives affected candidates a final opportunity to either accept or reject their outstanding admission offers following the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours.

JAMB had initially fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates offered admission between 2021 and 2025 to update their admission records.

JAMB Sets New Final Deadline

In a statement issued by the Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, the Board said its management approved November 30 as the new final deadline due to the recent disruption to the CAPS platform.

Benjamin warned that candidates who fail to accept or reject their outstanding offers by the new deadline will no longer be allowed to do so within the current window.

He added that subsequent requests to update admission records relating to previous admission years would attract the applicable penalty fee.

JAMB Explains Why Candidates Must Act

The Board said the intervention was particularly important for candidates whose admissions were not reflected on the matriculation list.

According to JAMB, failure to have properly documented admission records could create difficulties accessing benefits associated with recognised admissions, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Candidates were therefore urged to take action before the November 30 deadline rather than wait until the final days.

JAMB said candidates who accept their outstanding admission offers will be able to print their admission letters.

Those who reject the offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records and ensure the national admission database accurately reflects their current status.

Advice For Candidates With Previous Offers

JAMB advised candidates who are no longer studying at institutions where they received previous admission offers, or who are currently pursuing different programmes, to accept the outstanding offers before applying for the appropriate correction or deletion where applicable.

Candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who have unaccepted admission offers from previous years were advised to reject those offers and continue with their current programmes.

The Board also reassured candidates admitted during the 2026 admission exercise that rejecting an outstanding offer from a previous year would not affect their current admission.

JAMB reiterated that all outstanding offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises that remain neither accepted nor rejected by November 30, 2026, will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” on its records.

The Board urged affected candidates to comply with the directive, warning that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period could render the offer invalid.
