Akwa Ibom Council Approves Monthly Stipend
The Chairman of Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Uno Etim, has approved a monthly stipend of N20,000 for each National Youth Service Corps member serving in the area.
Etim announced the approval on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by corps members deployed to the local government.
“For the corps members serving here, we have approved a monthly stipend of N20,000 for each of the corps members, and the payment takes immediate effect,” the chairman said.
He urged the corps members to consider the local government their home throughout their service year.
Chairman Promises Welfare Support
Etim assured the corps members that the council would provide the necessary support to help them perform their duties effectively.
He also directed the Works Department to inspect their accommodation and identify facilities requiring renovation or other improvements.
The chairman said the stipend reflected his administration’s commitment to supporting young Nigerians contributing their skills and energy to local development.
He further assured the corps members that their safety, welfare and peaceful service would remain priorities of his administration.
Corps Members Appreciate Council
Speaking on behalf of the corps members, the Community Liaison Officer, Ukachukwu Ifeanyi, appreciated the chairman for the initiative and other development projects across the local government area.
The monthly payment is expected to provide additional financial support to NYSC members serving in Urue-Offong/Oruko.
