The Arsenal forward wins the fan-voted award for the second time after scoring five goals in 10 appearances during the 2025–26 campaign.
Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been named England Women’s Player of the Year, earning the honour for the second time after another influential campaign for the national team.
The 27-year-old previously won the award two seasons ago and received the latest recognition following a 2025–26 season in which she featured in all 10 of England’s matches and scored five goals.
Russo beat Chelsea duo Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton to the award, which is decided by a fan vote.
The recognition comes as England continue their bid to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Russo Shines In England’s World Cup Qualifying Campaign
Russo scored England’s third goal in their 3-1 victory over Greece in the first leg of their 2027 Women’s World Cup qualifying play-off semi-final last week.
Her contribution helped England establish an advantage ahead of the return fixture at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Tuesday.
The second leg will determine whether England progress in the play-off competition as they pursue qualification for the tournament.
Russo’s involvement throughout the campaign has underlined her importance to England’s attacking options.
Arsenal Forward Thanks Fans And Teammates
Reacting to the award, Russo said the recognition was particularly meaningful because supporters determined the winner.
“To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans. I am so grateful for their support,” she said.
She also acknowledged her England teammates, stressing the collective effort behind individual achievements.
“A big thank you also to my team-mates – it is always about the collective,” Russo added.
Her latest award adds to her growing list of individual honours while recognising her contribution to England’s performances during the 2025–26 campaign.
With the return leg against Greece approaching, Russo and her teammates will now turn their attention to securing progress in the World Cup qualifying play-offs.
