Popular digital content creator opens up about transitioning away from short comedy videos to establish his distinct identity as a talk show host.

Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi, widely known as Bae U or Isbae U, has opened up about his decision to step away from traditional skit making, revealing that his fear of remaining average drove the shift in his career path.

Speaking in a recent interview on The Morayo Show, the entertainer shared that he reached a stage in his journey where he felt uncomfortable continuing down the same path as many other digital creators in an increasingly saturated industry.

Desire for Distinct Identity Led to Talk Show Launch

Bae U explained that his decision to abandon conventional comedy skits came during a period of personal reflection and creative rediscovery.

He noted that he was determined to build a unique brand rather than blending into the crowd of short-form comedy producers.

“The concept of Curiosity Made Me Ask came from me finding myself,” Bae U stated during the broadcast. “I was tired of being average and wanted to do something different. I didn’t want to be like the skit makers.”

He further disclosed that American comedian Zach Galifianakis’ satire interview show, Between Two Ferns, served as a core inspiration for developing his own comic interview format.

Building a Platform Beyond Traditional Comedy

Since pivoting away from scripted skits, Bae U has successfully established himself as an interviewer, creating satirical, high-confrontation conversations on his platform.

His show has hosted several high-profile Nigerian figures across various sectors, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie, and broadcast journalist Frank Edoho.

Reflecting on his future plans, the content creator expressed ambitions to expand his talk show globally, naming international figures as prospective future guests as he continues to push his creative boundaries.
