The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gives the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
INEC announced Adeleke as the winner after the commission completed the collation of results from all 30 Local Government Areas across the state.
Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs
The Accord candidate secured victory in 19 of Osun State’s 30 LGAs, while Oyebamiji won the remaining 11.
Adeleke recorded victories in Boluwaduro, Ede South, Ife North, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Orolu, Osogbo, Oriade, Odo-Otin, Ife East, Ifelodun, Iwo, Ede North, Ila, Ayedire, Egbedore, Ayedaade and Ejigbo.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, won Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakunmosa West, Irewole, Atakunmosa East, Isokan, Ola-Oluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
Adeleke Builds Clear Lead Over APC Challenger
Although the election produced a competitive battle across several parts of the state, Adeleke eventually established a significant advantage in the overall vote count.
The governor performed particularly strongly in his traditional strongholds.
In Ede North, Adeleke polled 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283. He also won Ede South with 26,188 votes, while the APC candidate received 6,219.
In the state capital, Osogbo, Adeleke secured 36,480 votes compared with Oyebamiji’s 30,474.
Oyebamiji Wins 11 LGAs
Despite finishing second statewide, Oyebamiji delivered strong performances in several LGAs.
His biggest victories included Irewole, where he scored 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934.
He also won Boripe, polling 19,963 votes to Adeleke’s 12,448.
The APC candidate further secured victories in Ilesa East, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakunmosa West, Atakunmosa East, Isokan, Ola-Oluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.
ADC Candidate Finishes Third
African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam finished third in the election.
Salaam received 17,180 votes but did not win any of the state’s 30 LGAs.
The remaining candidates shared the other votes in the election, which featured 15 political parties.
Adeleke Secures Second Term
The victory gives Adeleke another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
The governor first won the state’s governorship election in 2022 under the Peoples Democratic Party. He later moved to the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 election.
His latest victory therefore marks his return to office under a different political platform.
The final result also confirms Accord’s dominance across a majority of the state’s local government areas, despite a strong challenge from the APC.

Adeleke‘s 66,252-vote margin places him ahead of Oyebamiji in the final statewide tally.
The declaration followed the collation of results from the 30 LGAs by INEC’s returning officers, with Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, serving as the state Returning Officer.
