Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, Senator David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru will secure decisive victories in the 2027 general elections.

Umahi made the prediction on Sunday in Abakaliki during a South-East sensitisation campaign covering Ebonyi North and Ebonyi Central senatorial zones.

The minister, who also serves as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the Tinubu/All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, said Ebonyi remained firmly behind the ruling party.

He said the APC was preparing for an intensive grassroots mobilisation campaign, including direct engagement with residents in their communities to communicate the party’s programmes and achievements.

Umahi also expressed confidence that wealthy individuals, youths, women and elders in the state would contribute resources towards the party’s campaign activities.

“We are not looking for an 80 per cent win; we are looking to win 95 per cent of our polling units,” he said.

The former governor dismissed claims that opposition parties could defeat the APC in Ebonyi, insisting that the party would strengthen its mobilisation efforts to retain power at both federal and state levels.

Umahi Highlights Tinubu’s Infrastructure Projects

Umahi cited ongoing federal road and bridge projects as part of the Tinubu administration’s record, arguing that infrastructure development would strengthen the APC’s appeal to voters in the South-East.

He referenced projects linking Ebonyi to neighbouring states and the proposed completion of the Oferekpe Road and its bridge, which he said would improve transportation and connectivity across the region.

The minister urged residents to support the APC, maintaining that Ebonyi had benefited from the Federal Government’s infrastructure initiatives.

Traditional Ruler Expresses Confidence In APC

Meanwhile, traditional ruler Sunday Oketa also expressed confidence that Ebonyi would support APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The comments come as political parties and their leaders begin preparations for the next general elections.

However, Umahi’s projection of a 95 per cent victory across polling units represents his political expectation and campaign target, rather than an established electoral outcome. The final results will depend on voters’ decisions during the elections.
