Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has ruled out withdrawing from the 2027 presidential election in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.

Kwankwaso made the position known on Sunday in a statement published on his verified Facebook page, where he accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of directing unnecessary attacks at him, NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi and their party.

The former Kano State governor said the NDC remained committed to contesting the election and dismissed reports suggesting that its presidential ticket could step aside for the ADC.

“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said.

His statement followed allegations by the ADC campaign council that Kwankwaso was advancing the political interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso Accuses ADC Campaign Council Of Attacks

Kwankwaso criticised the ADC campaign team for allegedly focusing on the NDC leadership instead of presenting its own candidate’s credentials, achievements and policy proposals to Nigerians.

He said claims that the NDC was working for the APC or planned to withdraw from the presidential race were unfounded.

The NDC vice-presidential candidate also warned that similar rumours could emerge closer to election day in an attempt to mislead supporters and create uncertainty around the party’s presidential ticket.

He insisted that neither he nor Obi was acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates.

Kwankwaso urged the ADC Presidential Campaign Council to focus on responding to allegations reportedly levelled against its candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima rather than targeting the NDC leadership.

NDC Rejects Claims Of Working For APC

Kwankwaso also rejected suggestions that the NDC ticket was working to benefit President Bola Tinubu and the APC.

He criticised the ruling party’s administration and argued that the ADC had not demonstrated that it offered the alternative Nigerians needed.

According to him, the NDC presidential ticket, popularly referred to as the “OK ticket”, remained committed to providing a different approach to governance.

He said the party’s agenda focused on national unity and addressing challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy.

Kwankwaso maintained that the ticket had the capacity and nationwide support needed to address Nigeria’s challenges and bridge existing divisions.

Kwankwaso Urges Supporters To Remain Committed

The former Kano governor urged NDC supporters and other Nigerians to remain committed to the party’s participation in the 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence in the ticket’s ability to compete in the presidential race and called on supporters to continue working towards the party’s electoral ambition.

The statement comes amid exchanges between the NDC and ADC campaign teams as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

Kwankwaso’s declaration makes the NDC’s stated position clear: the party does not intend to withdraw its presidential ticket in favour of the ADC or any other political platform.

He concluded his statement with the slogan, “Nigeria will be OK.”
