Support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have staged a solidarity road march in Kaduna ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off scheduled for October 24, 2026.
The march, held on Friday, brought together members of support groups under the Presidential Campaign Council’s Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate.
Organisers described the exercise as a demonstration of their commitment to Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and said similar activities would be organised in other states during the campaign.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate, Silas Ali Agara, said the groups had mobilised members across Kaduna State to welcome the president and demonstrate their support ahead of the campaign rally.
Agara said the march was also intended to show the groups’ readiness to participate in mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We want to show Mr President that Nigerians love him, the people of Kaduna State love him, and the youth of this country love him,” he said.
He claimed the campaign structure had about 10,000 support groups nationwide and said the directorate was working to mobilise members behind Tinubu.
Agara added that solidarity marches would be organised in states visited by the president throughout the campaign period.
Support Groups Plan Nationwide Mobilisation
Agara described Friday’s march as the beginning of a broader mobilisation strategy aimed at demonstrating the presence and preparedness of support groups ahead of the president’s campaign engagements.
He said groups in individual states would be expected to participate during Tinubu’s visits, creating opportunities for members to demonstrate their support and take part in campaign activities.
The director thanked members who participated in the exercise, particularly Northwest zonal coordinators, whom he credited with helping organise participants from across the region.
He also acknowledged the support of the Minister of State for Works and other campaign stakeholders.
According to Agara, the directorate would continue working with state and zonal coordinators to strengthen participation and maintain the groups’ involvement as campaign activities move across the country.
He said the mobilisation effort would extend beyond major rallies to include continued activities within states and communities.
Minister Calls For Continued Support For Tinubu
The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who also serves as secretary of the Northwest support group structure, thanked the organisers and participants for their turnout.
Goronyo described the march as an initial demonstration of the groups’ mobilisation efforts ahead of the campaign flag-off.
He expressed confidence that supporters would sustain their activities throughout the campaign, citing what he described as the administration’s interventions in infrastructure, water supply, education and healthcare.
“We thank Mr President for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of Nigerians,” he said.
The minister also called for continued support for Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, APC governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives and state lawmakers.
He said sustained coordination among political leaders, support groups and grassroots structures would be important to the party’s campaign activities.
Northwest Coordinator Commends Organisers
The Director-General of the National Productivity Centre and Northwest coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group under the Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi, also commended the organisers.
Dan’Agundi said the road march formed part of preparations to demonstrate the readiness of support groups ahead of campaign events in different states.
He said the organisers intended to assess the presence and preparedness of support groups in states scheduled for the president’s visits and ensure local structures participated in the mobilisation.
He acknowledged the role of James Abiodun Faleke in coordinating and supporting the programme, while thanking other campaign stakeholders and officials who contributed to the exercise.
Dan’Agundi said the groups would continue working together as campaign activities moved across the country, with the aim of strengthening grassroots participation and supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Another speaker, whose name was not clearly established in the available recording, thanked participants for turning out at short notice and commended those who organised the march.
The speaker also expressed anticipation for the arrival of Governor Uba Sani and the APC national chairman to receive the support groups’ show of solidarity.
APC Schedules Kaduna Campaign Flag-Off
The APC scheduled the flag-off of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign for Saturday, October 24, at Kaduna Township Stadium.
The event was expected to bring together party leaders, governors, campaign officials, support groups and other stakeholders.
The Kaduna gathering will mark the beginning of the party’s wider campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
For the support groups, Friday’s road march provided an opportunity to demonstrate their organisational preparations and signal their intention to remain involved throughout the campaign.
However, the organisers’ claim that the campaign structure comprises about 10,000 support groups nationwide was not independently verified during the event.
The extent to which the mobilisation effort translates into sustained participation across the country remains to be seen as the campaign progresses.
