Producer-turned-singer unearths decade-old post rating DJ Coublon higher, telling rapper to ‘sing as one’ with his former preference instead.
Nigerian music producer-turned-singer John Saviours Udomboso, popularly known as Young Jonn, has publicly turned down a musical collaboration request from rapper Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez.
The refusal follows the resurfacing of a 2015 social media post in which the rapper previously expressed a preference for another hitmaker, DJ Coublon, over Young Jonn.
Online Exchange Sparks Digital Drag
The online interaction began after Young Jonn posted a message stating his desire to assemble a close group of creative allies.
“I need like 5 bad friends way we go dey move in bulk!” Young Jonn wrote.

Reacting to the post, Blaqbonez expressed interest in joining forces with the singer, replying, “Oya, make we dey together, sing as one.”
Instead of accepting the offer, Young Jonn unearthed a screenshot of a post attributed to Blaqbonez from 2015. In the archived tweet, the rapper had explicitly stated that he preferred DJ Coublon’s production work over Young Jonn’s.
Sharing the screenshot, Young Jonn dismissed the request, writing, “Go sing as one with Coublon.”
Blaqbonez Blames Social Media Handler
Following the rejection, Blaqbonez attempted to distance himself from the 2015 post. The rapper claimed he did not author the statement himself, asserting that a social media manager was handling his account at the time.
The exchange quickly gained traction across social media platforms, with music fans sharing conflicting views.
While some users commended Young Jonn for keeping track of industry slights, others questioned whether a decade-old tweet should derail a potential musical pairing between two prominent contemporary artists.
Neither artist has indicated whether formal discussions regarding a joint project will continue following the public exchange.
