The Federal Government received N804.897 billion, while states and local councils received N794.313 billion and N555.142 billion respectively.
FAAC Disburses N2.338tn August Revenue
The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed N2.338 trillion in August 2026 revenue among the Federal Government, state governments and local government councils.
The disclosure was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
The revenue was shared during the September 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja.
The total distributable revenue comprised N1.565 trillion in statutory revenue and N773.233 billion in Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue.
Breakdown Of FAAC Allocation
From the N2.338 trillion distributed:
- Federal Government: N804.897 billion
- State governments: N794.313 billion
- Local government councils: N555.142 billion
- Derivation revenue to benefiting states: N184.388 billion
The derivation allocation represents 13 per cent of mineral revenue.
The Federal Government received N727.573 billion from statutory revenue, while states received N369.035 billion and local councils received N284.511 billion. A further N184.388 billion went to benefiting states as derivation revenue.
From the N773.233 billion VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N77.323 billion, states received N425.278 billion and local councils received N270.632 billion.
Statutory Revenue Declines
The statement said gross revenue of N3.685 trillion was available in August 2026.
Deductions included N125.142 billion for the cost of collection, while transfers, refunds and savings amounted to N1.221 trillion.
Gross statutory revenue stood at N2.850 trillion, representing a decline of N1.508 trillion from the N4.359 trillion recorded in July.
However, gross VAT revenue increased to N834.843 billion in August from N793.968 billion in July, representing a rise of N40.875 billion.
Revenue Sources Record Mixed Performance
According to the communiqué, Petroleum Profit Tax, Hydrocarbon Tax, VAT, Customs and Excise Duty recorded significant increases during the month.
Meanwhile, Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duty Tax, petroleum royalties, mineral royalties and other listed revenue sources recorded declines.
The latest distribution followed the N3.007 trillion shared among the three tiers of government as July 2026 revenue.
