The popular comedian issues a public statement taking full responsibility after a viral stage stunt drawing backlash and sparking an argument with her husband.
Popular Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Asuoha, widely known as Real Warri Pikin, has issued a public apology after a viral video showed singer Timaya lifting her on stage during a performance in Dallas, Texas.
The incident occurred at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), where Real Warri Pikin won the award for Best Stand-Up Comedian.
In a video posted on her official Instagram page, the entertainer took responsibility for the incident, explaining that she acted spontaneously when Timaya called for a lady from backstage to join him while performing his hit track Ukwu.

She stated that she did not expect the singer to lift her and tried to resist when he asked her to jump onto him.
“Nigerians, please take it easy on me. I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions,” she said in a video statement. “I was backstage vibing when he said a lady should come out. I rushed out. He said I should jump on him, and I was shocked. If you watch the full video, you will see me begging him.”
The comedian revealed that the incident angered her husband, Ikechukwu, following widespread criticism on social media from fans who questioned her actions.
She appealed to her followers and critics for understanding, confirming that she has reached out to resolve the issue with her husband privately.
